The trick is to learn to breathe deeply from your diaphragm, not the shallow sips of air we usually take.

If your senses are a bit ruffled at the idea of equating Source or God with a “fool” or an “idiot,” you’re not alone. This is where the deeper, hidden meaning of this Key comes into sharp focus.

We often miss it because we’re so mesmerized by the material world. Most of us don’t realize that wherever our gaze settles, we are looking at an expression of God.

The Hebrew word for this Key is Aleph, which means ox or bull. In early civilizations, the ox represented raw, motive power—it plowed fields, threshed grain, and carried immense loads. It symbolizes our human power to harness the forces around us to realize our aims.

But to get an ox to work for you, you must first learn to tame it. The same is true for your own creative energy. This isn’t a vague, abstract force; it’s a tangible power you can cultivate and direct.

And where does this creative energy come from? The sun.

The entire image of The Fool is a portrait of the limitless force that is the central reality in every one of us. It’s the “something” that allows you to see beyond the seeming walls of your present circumstances.

This “something” is what has brought you this far on your journey. It’s the engine of your desire to succeed, to enjoy better health, and to better your circumstances. The very apparatus that gives you the ability to think, intend, and speak knows it is limitless—and so are your possibilities.

This force will not let you alone. You may think you’ve hit rock bottom, at the end of your resources, but this inner power pushes you on. It is forever young, forever knocking on the door of your inner being, trying to let you in on a secret strength you may currently know nothing about—even in the midst of ill health, age, or defeat. It has repeatedly proven its power over these challenges, if we just open the door.
